INSA Strasbourg is a state-run grande école for engineers and architects and comes under the aegis of the Ministry for Higher Education. The school's missions are: training engineers and architects, high-level scientific and technological research, and disseminating scientific and technical culture. INSA Strasbourg has some 1,400 students on its books.

Curriculum
The engineering degree
INSA Strasbourg is authorized by the French Commission for engineering qualifications to award engineering degrees in 7 specialities. The degree is awarded after 5 years post-secondary education.
1st and 2nd years
/ Common curriculum for all students.
Gradual preparation for the students to opt for 1 of 7 engineering majors.
3rd to 5th years
/ Students following the curriculum they have opted for: mechanical engineering, plastics, mecatronics, civil engineering, topography, electrical engineering or energy and environmental engineering.
Sandwich courses or vocational training (three years)
/ Specialities : Mechanical engineering / Energy and environmental engineering
Teaching is backed by 7 research laboratories and research teams.
The degree in architecture
The degree has been accredited by the Cultural, scientific and technical commission of the French Ministry of Culture and is awarded after a 4-year course. The HMONP qualification, which allows architects to manage projects under their own names, is awarded after further studies and long job experience in an architectural firm.
INSA Strasbourg is the only school in France qualified to award these two degrees and the HMONP qualification

Engineering students
By qualifications, academic record and possible interview
/ First-and third-year admissions are common to all 5 INSA schools.
There are 220 first year places available. 3rd year admissions after L2, L3 (2 or 3 years of a degree course) or CPGE.
Architecture students
INSA Strasbourg and national entrance exam
/ 48 students of similar level are selected through the entrance exams.

Career opportunities

Networks
/ INSA Strasbourg belongs to the INSA network and the Conectus Alsace network. It works with the Vehicle of tomorrow, Therapeutic innovations and Natural fibres competitiveness clusters.
International
/ All students spend between 3 and 12 months abroad for studies, research or on a placement.
/ 11.4 % of students come from outside France, from over 40 different countries.
/ Three dual degrees with Germany and Spain. The school aims to offer one dual degree course in each of its 7 engineering majors.
/ Partnerships leading to foreign Masters (Cranfield, IIT Chicago, Cardiff , Chalmers in Sweden, EPFL in Switzerland).
/ A Franco-German class allows bilingual graduates to pursue their engineering or architectural studies. The first three semesters are given in French or in German.
Student life
/ A Students' Bureau (BDE) runs student life and is the umbrella for some 15 clubs. Activities include the French Robotics Cup, the EDHEC yacht race, the Tour de France yacht race, the 4L Trophy, Architects without borders, Engineers without borders, the sports association, bands and orchestras, a gala night, an induction week-end.
/ The sports association (320 members) offers a wide range of sports.
/ A nurse is available for students all year round and drives on-campus health-promotion
