The region

When you opt to study in Alsace, you're choosing a region at the crossroads of three countries, with a rich history and culture and some of the world's finest food and drink.

Alsace is bordered by Germany and Switzerland and also enjoys close links with neighbouring regions Lorraine and Franche Comté. This gives it a regional and international outlook that is considered as a major asset, in particular in terms of training and industrial collaboration.

The region boasts three competiveness  clusters: the vehicule of tomorrow, therapeutic innovation, and natural fibres. These clusters are natural magnets for research and development. Alsace is also home to a large number of major corporations in all the industrial sectors, including the car industry and technical fibres, which make a substantial contribution to the economic development of the region.

The eurodistricts, European administrative areas that bring together towns lying on either side of the French, German and Swiss borders (as far as Alsace is concerned), provide an excellent framework for cooperation, especially as regards transport, education, culture and health. There are 5 eurodistricts in France, 3 of which are in Alsace, including the only French trinational eurodistrict.
