Staying in Mulhouse
Mulhouse is the second biggest city of Alsace, after Strasbourg. Previously an independent republic, it used to be known as the "French Manchester", due to its industrial history.
Industry remains the distinguishing feature of the city, which now boasts a thriving tertiary sector, growing alongside conventional industry.
